The primary responsibility of the HTG Operator is to ensure the operations of the Hydraulic Turbine-Generator is operated safely and efficiently in accordance with Plant Safety Procedures and Standard Operating Procedures, and under the supervision of Shift Engineer. Additional duties include monitoring plant systems and equipment on a continuous basis, responding to alarms and out of specification parameters by taking appropriate corrective action.
Duties and Function
- Conduct all activities when at work in a safe manner.
- Monitor plant equipment to ensure proper operation and identify developing trend.
- Consistently read & follow all operating procedures and departmental instructions.
- Performs plant start-ups, shut-downs, normal and emergency plant operations as required.
- Control generator output to match the phase, frequency, and voltage of generated power to the Grid and perform synchronization and connection to the Grid.
- Control generator load set point in accordance with the approved and submitted Hourly Day Ahead Nomination of Plant Generation Schedule.
- Observing gauges, dials, switches, and alarms, and other indicators to ensure that all machines are working properly.
- Quickly respond and take corrective action to plant alarm.
- Advises Shift Engineer of daily activities and irregularities in plant operation.
- Generate, hang, clear and administer Lock Out Tag Outs.
- Oversees the operation of such equipment as turbine, generator, butterfly valve, pumps, HPU, HV-LV equipment’s, switch gear & etc.
- Work closely with the Water Guards and Substation Tenders.
- To control auxiliary equipment, such as pumps, fans, lights, HPU and auxiliary power.
- Make adjustments or minor repairs, such as tightening leaking gland and pipe joints; report anu needs for major repairs.
- Monitor and inspect power plant equipment and indicators to detect evidence of operating problems.
- Maintains neat, accurate logs and records obtained from routine monitoring of controls and operating systems.
- Place standby emergency electrical generators on line in emergencies and monitor the temperature, output and lubrication of the system.
- Start or stop generators, auxiliary pumping equipment, turbines and other equipment and connect or disconnect equipment from circuits.
- Perform other works as maybe assigned.
Qualifications
- Education – Must be graduate of Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic or Equivalent)
- License/Certificate – Must have an CPM (Certified Plant Mechanic) and/or Registered Master Electrician
- Experience – At least 3 years of experience in hydropower operation
- Knowledge – Knowledgeable in SCADA, WINCC, HMI and other control features
- Ability – Ability to detect operating defects and faults, ability to work with HV-LV equipments.

We are currently in cooperation with the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte and the Department of Energy to build a 12 Megawatt Hydroelectric Power Plant, which will be located in Bacolod, Lanao Del Norte.
Liangan Power Corporation's target for commissioning date and commercial operation will be this year 2023. This project will help ease the Mindanao's problem of power shortage and to further produce a steady supply of clean energy.
